Monday Musings: Guanajuato, Mexico

Guanajuato’s colourful buildings cascade like sugar-coated treats over the hills that make up this Mexican town. Aside from the photo opportunities at every turn, the town has a vibrant cultural scene. As well as the theatre, check out the birthplace of the artist Diego Rivera – famed for his colourful murals – in the house and museum of his birthplace. Also worth a visit is the not-for the-squeamish Museum of the Mummies, complete with exhumed bodies on display. For fresh juices and cheap eats, the central market provides both sustenance and another plethora of colour.
