Favourite Sunsets

I can walk for miles, drive atop a cliff, take a boat to a lonely island, all for the want of enjoying the sunset. I don’t know why, but they truly fascinate me, each one being different from the other. I have gasped at the colours, across the world, watching shades of red, orange and grey in the sky. Throw in some bubbly and a cheese platter and I would pray for time to stand still.

South Africa: Shark Cage Diving and Whale Watching

What is it about the great white shark that makes one scared, yet curious? Is it the small keen eye that says ‘I am watching you’ or the sharp teeth that say ‘I am perfect for a toothpaste advertisement’! Is it the size which makes you feel puny or the stealth with which it moves? Whether you can pin point one reason or you have a list of reasons, being at a distance of three...

Oudtshoorn: Things to do….

I think that Oudtshoorn is all about birds – birds with long legs! This little town is know as the ostrich capital of the world. A town so famed for these interesting birds had to make its mark on our road trip around the Western Cape, and we spent a day exploring various activities in and around Oudtshoorn. Stilbaai: A well kept secret!

Stilbaai does not make it to the list of places that people flock to visit in the Western Cape in South Africa – I wonder why? The sleepy town is a hidden gem. I am in two minds to write more about it lest it’s pristine beauty gets marred. I guess I shouldn’t be selfish and share a little something about Stilbaai …at least for those who are looking to slow down a little! For...

South Africa: 10 Day Itinerary for the Western Cape

The road trip around the Western Cape in South Africa was our maiden road trip. As you would gather from my earlier posts, this was our honeymoon. Ankur says that back then, I sounded more excited about the road trip as compared to the wedding. I am not to blame! Please blame the travel bug that bit me! In all honesty, Ankur likes to travel as much as I do and was equally excited to...

Cape Town: Top five picks

Blue waters to swim in, sandy beaches to sun bathe, delicious food to indulge, rugged terrain to exercise your muscles – I am not talking about the Mediterranean coasts. Get your focus off the famous countries in the Northern Hemisphere and move your attention to the jewels in the Southern Hemisphere. I am talking about Cape Town, the crowned and famed city of South Africa. Let not rumour mill make any negative impressions on your...

Robertson: Wine Valley

Not many people spend a day in the wine valley of Robertson. Most people visiting Cape Town spend a while touring Paarl and Stellenbosch to tick wine tasting on the list of must do things in Cape Town. Well, if not more, Robertson deserves at least a night’s halt to experience wine culture. Robertson is a quaint little town out of dreamland. The roads are lined with jacaranda trees which blossom in summers and paint...

Kruger National Park

I love animals. You can imagine how much I love them – the Kruger National Park was part of our honeymoon plan! The Kruger National Park is a jungle – verdant forest with bush cover. If you are expecting to see rolling plains and grasslands (snapshots from Masai Mara or Serengeti that are lurking in you head), that is not what you will see. Baby, it’s truly a jungle out there! Home to many… The...
