Souvenir Shopping in Moscow: Izmailovsky Market

I have a list of things that I need to bring back from every country to complete our 'Home Sweet Home'. Our abode has a Turkish lamp from Istanbul, an ostrich egg from South Africa, a carved wooden door from Zanzibar, bright red clogs from Netherlands, floor carpet from Oman, papyrus paintings from Egypt... the list goes on. It truly looks like a travellers house! Obviously, on the list was 'Matryoshka Dolls from Russia'. Now that I was in Russia, I just had to pick up a set.

South Vietnam (Saigon) – Four Day Itinerary

Saigon, also known as Ho Chi Minh City, is the biggest city in Vietnam. Obviously, there is a lot of activity... scooters whiz past, vendors sell fresh fruits, locals sip on coffee... all in the wake of modern day construction. I spent three days in Saigon, which were enough to get a feel of the place and see the main attractions. Here is my four day itinerary...

Vietnam: Life after Death

I just got back from Vietnam. I would have loved to spend longer in the country, primarily to learn more about its people, who have fought wars and have tilled fields. There is so much to learn from the Vietnamese ... war tactics, the desire to live, the strength of one's beliefs. In the little time that I had, I got a small peek into the beliefs of the locals. What intrigued me the most was their belief in life after death and traditional practises that carried out to appease the deceased. Read on to know what spiked my interest...

Ankur and I spent the last weekend in Singapore… a weekend full of big city fun… fine dining, shopping and tech related attractions. While it was Ankur’s first visit to Singapore, it was my third visit to this little island nation. I went just because I wanted to feel like a kid at the Universal Studios. I wanted to meet Shrek and Ankur wanted to dance with the Minions. Super charged and excited, like two...

Chai pe Charcha: History with a Cuppa!

Way back in history, in 1534, the islands of present day Mumbai were given by Sultan Bahadur Shah to the Portuguese via the Treaty of Bassein. Bombay continued to be a Portuguese colony until 1662. It was in May 1662 that King Charles II of England married Catherine of Braganza, whose family gave a huge dowry to the groom. A part of this gift was the Portuguese territory of Bombay.
